Le service possède une expertise sur l’ensemble du champ de compétence des spécialités médicales de chirurgie maxillo-faciale et de stomatologie rappelé à l’onglet ACTIVITÉ ci-dessus. 

Le service est labélisé Centre de Compétence National pour les Centre de compétences national des fentes et malformations faciales (réseau MAFACE). Il s’agit à ce jour du seul service de ce type en Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. 

L’activité des praticiens du service est répartie dans différentes unités du CHU.

Pour les consultations
Les consultations de de chirurgie maxillo-faciale et de stomatologie ont lieu au niveau 0 du bâtiment gris.

Pour les interventions sous anesthésie locale :

• pour la chirurgie maxillo-faciale : elles peuvent être réalisées dans une salle dédiée au niveau des consultations externes (bâtiment gris, niveau 0) ou à l’Unité de Chirurgie Ambulatoire sous Anesthésie Locale - UCAL (bâtiment gris, niveau -1),
• pour la stomatologie : elles peuvent être réalisées sur des fauteuils stomatologiques (position assise) ou dans une salle dédiée (position couchée) au niveau des consultations externes (bâtiment gris, niveau 0).

Pour les interventions sous anesthésie générale :

• elles sont réalisées au centre de ressource des Blocs Opératoires commun (bâtiment vert, niveau -1),
• elles nécessitent une consultation pré-anesthésique aux consultations d’anesthésie (bâtiment gris, niveau -1) et une hospitalisation :
  • soit à l’Unité d’Hospitalisation en Chirurgie Ambulatoire – UHCA (bâtiment gris, niveau -1),
  • soit en hospitalisation conventionnelle :
    • à l’unité d’hospitalisation conventionnelle de chirurgie maxillo-faciale (bâtiment gris, niveau +7 aile sud) pour les adultes,
    • dans le service de chirurgie pédiatrique (bâtiment vert, niveau +2) pour les enfants de 0 à 18 ans.

Les travaux de l’équipe médicale du service de chirurgie maxillo-faciale et de stomatologie portent globalement sur l’innovation technologique en chirurgie maxillo-faciale (et notamment sur les techniques de planification chirurgicale numérique, d’impression 3D et d’optimisation de la précision des gestes chirurgicaux) et sur la cicatrisation tissulaire (cutanée, osseuse et dentaire). L’équipe participe également très régulièrement à des études multicentriques nationales et internationales.
